Netting and Landing Your Fish

Avoid chasing your fish with the net when trying to land it. If you’ve played it out, you should be able to steer a fish with your rod. If it still wants to run, let it until you’re in control. Get your net in the water before you’ve got your fish completely to the boat or shore. Pull the fish, head first and head up, over the submerged net, then lift the net up and out of the water. Unless you’re on your own, it’s always best to have a fishing partner net the fish while you control it with your rod.
