Josh's journey began in 2008 at The Fishin' Hole's old 97th Street location when he was just 15 years old. After a brief detour as a red seal chef, he realized his true calling and returned to The Fishin' Hole in 2019. Over the years, Josh has worn various hats, including salesperson, fishing guide, and assistant manager, accumulating a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Currently serving as a Purchaser at the head office since October 2022, he continues to make significant contributions to the company.
As a fishing guide for seven seasons at Plummer's Arctic Lodges, Josh specialized in lake trout, Arctic char, and memorable shore lunches. His talent and dedication earned him a spot as a four-time Team Canada Fly Fishing member, representing the country in prestigious World Championship venues around the globe. With appearances in Sarajevo, Trentino, Liptovský Mikuláš, and Launceston, Josh's achievements in competitive fly fishing are remarkable. He is currently ranked fourth in Canada as an individual competitor, showcasing his exceptional skills and commitment to the sport.
With six years of experience as a fly fishing instructor, Josh possesses the ability to pass on his knowledge and passion to aspiring anglers. He also lends his expertise to The Fishin' Hole, where he contributes to the blog on competitive fishing. Additionally, Josh founded Jelly's, a commercial fly-tying company in 2020 that showcases top-tier "Competition grade flies." This brand has now become The Fishin' Hole's premium house brand, reflecting Josh's dedication to excellence in fly tying.
Beyond his fishing endeavours, Josh proudly holds the title of the biggest Philadelphia Eagles fan in Canada, showcasing his unwavering support for his favourite football team. And yes, it's worth noting that he's a self-proclaimed coffee addict.
