Lone Star air travel to Texas is simple because of the Texas/Alberta oil industry connection with a number of flights available including San Antonio/Austin destinations.
Standard motel accommodation is reasonably priced – with the exception being when Austin’s South By Southwest Music Festival is held and room rates double. A good time to avoid.
An 8-weight fly rod is adequate for flinging both redfish and bass flies while a standard 4 or 5-weight trout rod is all that’s required for the Guadalupe rainbows.
I like four-piece rods which fit into the bottom of a big duffle bag and cut down on my lost luggage angst exponentially.
The Austin/New Branfels/San Antonio area is also home to some great honky-tonks, barbecues and iconic Texas dance halls.
