Fly-fishing For Pike
When fly-fishing for pike, walleye and other fish beyond trout, typically you’ll be casting streamers with considerable air-resistance. A delicate presentation isn’t necessary, but often you’ll want to be able to cast a lot of line. Effective casting for distance is all about timing, and it’s important to let your line extend fully behind you before beginning your forward motion. Be sure to pause long enough at the 1 o’clock position on your back-cast to allow the line to unfold completely and load your rod. As you gain proficiency, consider learning a casting technique called "double-hauling" that will assist you in casting even further.
