Casts on the Raven and the North Raven are typically not very long; accuracy is more important than distance, with roll casts, sidearm casts and other unique angles pretty common. Expect to hang up often, so bring as much patience for the challenge as you can.
If you can keep your patience in these difficult conditions, the rewards can be significant.
Your nine foot rod is more hindrance than help here; a better choice is a 7 ½ or 8 foot rod in 3 to 5 weight. Waders are a must as you’ll often be up to your waist, or deeper. For that reason, a wading staff is another useful tool to bring.
