With the pothole trout lakes open and, in many instances at this time of year, the only water bodies we can fish.

It's spring and with the warm sun in the air it's the perfect time to start planning some angling adventures. Of course there are plenty to choose from, but here are a few that I took this past year and had a load of fun.

Circle at least a couple of the weekends in the month of March and make plans with your friends to head out to your favorite lakes for some good ice fishing. All lakes at this time of year will be fishing well.

This spring I was at the Fishing Show in Calgary when I came across a new rod that grabbed my attention. It was the Finesse Ultra Light made by Rapala. I usually don't get too worked up over a rod, but this one was different.

My dad came over from Prince George for a visit, and weekend time meant a day out fishing for pike. While the conditions were windy and the fishing was somewhat slow, we ended up having an excellent day.

Several years ago while guiding in southern Alberta a group of 8 anglers from the mid-west USA were in town for several days of flyfishing for trout. The trip was to be a combination of float trips and wade trips on various rivers in the area. The group had divided up into pairs for the trips, and as with all groups, there was one gentleman who was obviously the "ring leader'.
